Vauxhall is celebrating forty years of building small cars by introducing a special edition of its all-electric Corsa-e supermini.
Just 1,000 examples of the ‘Anniversary Edition’ are being built, with each promising “a unique design and enhanced specification” over regular versions.
Some of the visual tweaks have been inspired by Vauxhall’s heritage, including the colour. The ‘Record Red’ metallic paint finish is inspired by the ‘Carmine Red’ first seen on the original Nova, for instance.
Further exterior upgrades include a black grille with darkened front and rear Vauxhall Griffin badges and black-coloured Corsa lettering on the tail-gate. The black theme is repeated on the 17-inch alloy wheels, with these finished off by matt grey inserts.
Inside, the Anniversary Edition features a modern interpretation of the classic Nova’s tartan seat fabric. The chequered front sports seats are accompanied by a presentation box with four pairs of socks that are inspired by the pattern found in the original 1980s Nova SR and the one found in the Corsa-e Anniversary Edition. Each pattern comes in both small and large sizes.
Based on the ‘GS Line’ Corsa, the Corsa-e Anniversary Edition has an enhanced specification count that includes front and rear parking sensors, a 180-degree panoramic rear-view camera and blind-spot alert.
Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel as well as electric folding and heated door mirrors are among the comfort and convenience features.
The infotainment display measures 7-inches in size and incorporates satellite navigation, a DAB radio, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.
Driving information is displayed on a similar-sized digital instrument cluster where safety aids such as lane departure warning with lane keep assist, speed sign recognition and driver drowsiness alert can be accessed.
Completing the Anniversary Edition’s transformation is a black dashboard strip and interior number plate that harks to the Nova and Corsa’s 40-year association with UK motoring.
The Anniversary Edition features the same powertrain as the regular Corsa-e – a 50kWh battery and a 134bhp motor that deliver a 0-62mph time of 8.1 seconds and a WLTP range of 222-miles. With 100kW rapid charging capability, the car be charged to 80% in 30 minutes.
Priced at £31,000, Vauxhall has confirmed the model will be available to order exclusively online.
