The Ami can cover almost 50-miles on a single charge of its battery

Pricing and specification details of Citroen’s cute all-electric Ami city car have been announced, with interested customers able to reserve an example by placing a fully refundable £250 deposit.

Available in ‘Ami’, ‘Ami Pop’ and ‘Ami Vibe’, people can also choose from a number of optional Colour Packs to add a personal touch to the quadricycle which has an e-range of up to 46-miles. The passenger range will cost from £7,695 and a commercial-spec ‘My Ami Cargo’ a further £300.

The two-seater – which is being sold online through Citroen’s dedicated Ami digital platform and has already taken more than 2,000 reservations – will only be built in left-hand-drive guise as this means drivers will always exit the vehicle adjacent to the kerb when parking.

Colour Packs are priced at £400 and consist of orange, blue or grey “and are specifically designed to be fitted at home”. Each pack comes with colour-coded wheel trims, rear pillar decals, three matching dashboard storage boxes, dashboard bag hook, exterior door capsules, two door storage nets and two black floor mats with corresponding trim.

All Colour Packs add a dividing net between the driver and passenger footwells, a smartphone cradle for the dashboard and the small digital instrument cluster that allows customers to check on their Ami’s charge status.

Citroen says the lead-in ‘Ami’ trim “offers the most affordable point of entry to the Ami 100% electric line-up”. Standard specification includes a digital speedometer, LED headlamps and tail-lights, a panoramic glass sunroof and a USB charging port for all smartphone and tablet devices.

‘Ami Pop’ promises “a dynamic and cheerful visual identity” as it combining the Orange Colour Pack with black trim on the Ami’s nose, lower areas of the front and rear bumpers, and around the rear lights. These examples also get a black-coloured rear spoiler and orange decals for the door capsules that feature a number 2 design.

Completing the range with its “unique and assertive look” is ‘Ami Vibe’. It sports a black finish to the top of the front bumper, front and rear bumper bases, and rear light surrounds, and adds two decorative black roof rails, black wheel arches and ‘Contours’ decals on the doors and front wings.

‘Ami Pop’ and ‘Ami Vibe’ are supplied with their customisations fitted at the factory, and are priced at £8,495 and £8,895 respectively. All versions are powered by a 6kW e-motor that allows for 27.9mph top speed. The 5.5kWh battery can be charged in three hours using a home wallbox.

For businesses carrying out short distance or last-mile deliveries, the ‘My Ami Cargo’ is offered in a single specification. In place of the passenger seat is “a modular storage area that can be configured for a range of business needs”.

This consists of a modular upper surface, a divider between the driver and cargo areas, a modular cargo floor with two positions, and a lidded box in the rear. Coupled with the interior storage, My Ami Cargo has a total load capacity of 400-litres.

Eurig Druce – Citroen UK’s Managing Director – said: “I’m thrilled that we’re able to announce UK pricing and specifications for the Ami 100% electric and My Ami Cargo.

“These exciting new quadricycles showcase the way the Citroën brand brings innovation, electric mobility and clever design to the widest possible range of people, offering customers a radically different take on urban transport.

“What’s really exciting is that we are launching Ami in the UK due to huge demand from the public – it’s a perfect example of our ‘Power to the People’ thinking,” he added.
