The Edition 1988, the first limited edition of Jaguar’s range-topping SUV

Jaguar’s racing heritage has inspired the company to create a new version of its range-topping Sport Utility Vehicle.

Each one of the 394 ‘F-Pace SVR Edition 1988’ cars will be finished in unique ‘Midnight Amethyst’ paint, with this set off by ‘Champagne Gold’ forged alloy wheels, ‘Sunset Gold’ accents and a special logo on the rear of the car.

Edition 1988 are further set apart by a ‘Sunset Gold Satin’ Jaguar leaper and an Edition 1988 logo that is laser-etched to each front wing panel. Gloss Black is applied to the door mirror caps, brake calipers, wheel centre caps and the letter ‘R’ on the SVR badging.

Priced from £101,550 – a £20,000 premium over the car on which it is based – the build number of the V8-powered SUV is a nod to the laps completed by the XJR-9 LM on its way to triumphing at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1988.

Created by Jaguar Land Rover’s ‘Special Vehicle Operations’ (SV) division, the Edition 1988 gets the same 5-litre, supercharged V8 as the regular F-Pace SVR.

Developing 542bhp for a 0-60mph time of 3.8 seconds and a 178mph top speed, the new car will make an appearance at next week’s Le Mans 24 Hours and again at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.

The interior incorporates open-pore carbon fibre finishers, semi-aniline Ebony leather upholstery and ‘Sunset Gold Satin’ detailing on the dashboard, steering wheel spokes, gear shift paddles and the heated-and-cooled front sports seats.

The Jaguar leaper and horn ring on the steering wheel receive a satin black finish, while subtle SV Bespoke and Edition 1988 branding on the illuminated treadplates and dashboard completes the transformation.

Standard equipment includes a sliding panoramic roof, a head-up display, wireless smartphone charging and the company’s latest ‘Pivi Pro’ multimedia system.

Mark Turner – the Commercial Director of Special Vehicle Operations at Jaguar – said: “Since its introduction in 2019, the Jaguar F-Pace SVR has established itself as a highly characterful and rewarding high-performance car.

“Pairing these qualities with a level of SV Bespoke personalisation and exclusivity never offered before on F-Pace makes Edition 1988 an even more captivating proposition. With strictly limited availability, we’re confident this will quickly become the most sought-after F-Pace SVR yet,” he added.
