The Managing Director of Mervyn Stewart says he is “delighted” the business has been able to take on the Suzuki franchise for the greater North Down area.

The Japanese marque joins Skoda and MG Motors as part of the local business’s growing portfolio, which also includes the ‘Select’ used car range and ‘Rent-A-Car’ services.

Operating out of showrooms previously known as Phillip Petersen’s on the South Circular Industrial Estate, Mervyn Stewart Suzuki will carry the full range of new and used Suzuki cars.

In addition, on-site charging for electric vehicles will also be offered, vehicle servicing, aftersales support and specialist advice to Motability customers will also be offered to motorists.

“We are delighted to add the Suzuki franchise to the group following the acquisition of Philip Petersen earlier this year,” said Stephen Stewart, Managing Director of Mervyn Stewart. “The purchase of such an established business has meant that we have an experienced team with knowledge expertise and a total commitment to customer care.

“Suzuki have an ambitious plan that is clearly communicated and we have an outstanding product range that embraces hybrid models across the range. We look forward to growing the business together and delivering excellence for our customers,” he added.

Comprising everything from 12- and 48-volt mild-hybrid set-ups to plug-in hybrid systems, Suzuki’s UK range now features some form of electrification.

With the Jimny SUV no longer sold as a passenger car, the line-up now comprises the Ignis, Swift, Swift Sport, Vitara and S-Cross. Co-developed with Toyota, the Swace station wagon and mid-sized Across SUV are the two newest additions.

Dale Wyatt, Director Automobile, Suzuki GB, said: “Welcoming the Mervyn Stewart group to the Suzuki GB family, its Director of Automobiles, Dale Wyatt, said: “We look forward to working with them in the important Northern Irish market, particularly with a long-established and successful multi-marque group.

“It’s a very exciting time to be with Suzuki with our 100% hybrid range of passenger cars and some important new models to announce in the future. We wish the group every success with our brand for the future.”
